preparing for your newborn session
MONTREAL LIFESTYLE NEWBORN AND FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER
The below information applies to studio style newborn sessions (with props). If you are having a story session, without any props, there is not much to do! I will come to your home and document life with a new baby and all that that entails! if you have any favorite things you would like to have captured, it will be my pleasure! Please let me know!
Here are some suggestions for a studio style newborn session:
Before my arrival, please warm up your home, by turning up the heat or lowering your air conditioning, so that it is comfortable for your baby as he or she will be naked throughout most of the session.
Your baby will need to be asleep for most of the poses during our session. A warm baby and a full tummy are necessary. We will stop to feed as often as necessary during the session, but it is best to give your baby a full feeding just before my arrival.
This is a daunting task, but if you can, try to keep your baby awake for a little while before our session. A little bit of stimulation or a short bath will do the trick.
Have your baby dressed in only a loose diaper and a blanket when I arrive. This way, we will not need to wake them up to undress them.
I will arrive at your home at our scheduled time. Please allow me about 15-20 minutes to unload my props and set up.
This is the perfect time to give your baby a feeding or a milk top-up. A full baby is a sleepy baby.
I know many new parents do not use pacifiers, but it is an excellent idea to have a soothie available during your session. This really makes the posing and especially transitioning the baby from one pose to the next much simpler, keeping your baby calm and happy. I recommend the AVENT soother.
Please expect 3+ hours for your newborn session. Please do not book any other appointments on the same day incase we require additional time.
